Lightning in a Bottle Festival - May 11

On May 11, Santa Barbara will host the green-friendly Lightning in a Bottle Festival. Over 40 acts will perform on three stages set up at the Live Oak Campground, which offers plenty of outdoors delights with its 40 acres of forest. The event is centered on the philosophy that people can get together and have some fun while being conscious of their environment and their impact on it. In an effort to put those thoughts into action, solar energy and bio-diesel will fuel the event and all of the debauchery that inevitably comes with it.

Bassnectar will undoubtedly unleash a barrage of heavy as lead bass lines, pulling together the melodies floating around them. Politically, he is a perfect choice for the festival, which emphasizes not just talking about things like environmental issues but living a solution. The hip-hop influenced break-beats of Freq Nasty will also be present, taking no prisoners with his funky, demolished disco. You may want to have a fire extinguisher during the Mutaytor set, which will feature fire breathing, over a hundred drums, and who knows what else.

So, if you’ve got a few extra bucks, and a few extra days, get moving.
